Making Salt Dough Handprint Ornaments and Cookies

Today we make handprints for A2 since she is approaching her 22nd month. We did that for A1 so i need to do for A2 too...

While making the prints, i let them play with play dough and use the remaining dough to make cookies (use cookie cutter and fork to make the patterns). A1 is so excited as she thought I am making real cookie......

“Ingredients” for salt dough:

4 cups all purpose flour

1 cup salt

1.5 cup water

今天我为A2打了21（22）个月的手印。 因为A1在21个月大时也做了，以表示公平，得给A2也弄一个。我把剩下的面团交给她们弄饼干（使用饼干切割器和叉子制作图案）。 A1非常兴奋，因为她以为我正在制作真正的饼干......

中文书《连衣裙》活动 Activity for the Book “Dress”

《连衣裙》是一本以色彩联想的故事。 A1看完书后会有问： 为什么裙子会沾上颜色，虽然解释衣服弄脏了是很容易。 但我也想让她知道， 脏了也可以很美丽。连衣裙依依最后不哭了， 变成了一件五彩缤纷的连衣裙。 我根据书的内容给她做了一些活动。我在纸巾上画了不同颜色的圆圈,在另一张纸巾上画了连衣裙的轮廓。把连衣裙轮廓的纸巾放在上面， 然后指示 A1 用注射器(替代:吸管)将水滴到连衣裙纸巾上。低下的颜色会慢慢散开。 最后阶段是剪出这件连衣裙。

"The Dress" is a story of color association. It is written in Chinese with English subtitle. A1 was asking me why was the dress stained with other colors. It was easy to explain how the dress got dirty. But I also wanted her to know that stained dress can be beautiful. At the end, the dress YiYi didn't cry and became a colorful dress. I did some activities based on the book. I drew a few circles of different colors on a paper towel, drew an outline of the dress on another paper towel. Then i placed the paper towel with the outline of the dress on the top, and instructed A1 to drop water onto the dress with a syringe (alternative: pipette). A1 was impressed when the colors showed on the top paper towel.

The next step was to cut out the dress.

今天我们用叉子和瓶盖来作画。选了黄色涂在之前的蓝色画上。

Today we used forks and bottle lids to paint. Only yellow color was used to build on the previous blue color (using cotton buds). It was less messy this time.

一本很简单的书， 很适合A1学念。我不肯定A1都认得里头的字， 但她肯定能背起来。这本书鼓励小朋友多说“请”和“谢谢”。众多小朋友里， 只有说了这两个词的狐猴才从熊猫先生哪里得到了甜甜圈。

你要甜甜圈吗？企鹅说：给我粉色的。熊猫先生：不给， 我改主意了。

臭鼬：要！黄色和蓝色的，各给我一个。

鸵鸟：不要，走开！

鲸鱼：要，我全都要。然后你再给我拿一些。

狐猴：你好，熊猫先生！我能要一个甜甜圈吗？请给我一个吧，熊猫先生。

Chinese Picture Book - Please, Mr. Panda Isbn 9787508679006 

A very simple book for A1 to read in Chinese.  I was not sure A1 could recognize the words,  but she definitely could memorize the texts. This book encourages children to say "please" and "thank you". Only the lemurs who said these two words got the doughnuts from Mr. Panda.

Do you want a doughnut? Give me the pink one, said the penguin. No, I changed my mind. 

Skunk: Yes! Yellow and blue.

Ostrich: No, go away! 

Whale: Yes, want all. Give me more. 

Lemur: Hello, Mr. Panda! Can I have a doughnut? Please give me one, Mr. Panda.

这本书是A1点读率很高的书。她常常从书里找到一些有趣的话题。我给她念了很多次， 现在她已经把书都背起来了。 这本书里的插图有很多细节都会引起A1的主意， 她可以一直问个不停。 书的内容是讲叙一块西瓜， 怎么被蚂蚁发现和带回家。蚂蚁们集体的出动， 先把家里塞满， 再痛快地饱餐一顿， 最后还在西瓜皮上玩滑梯。

Chinese Book “The Ants and Watermelon” (ISBN 9787539130453)

This book is a hit with A1. She always find something interesting from the books. I have read her many times till she can read it. I think the illustrations are great as A1 can always point out something and starts a conversation. The book is about a piece of watermelon discovered by a group of ants, and how the ants bring the watermelon back. 

Simple Translation：

On a hot summer afternoon, the ants found a piece of watermelon.  It was delicious, let us bring it home.
